Xiaomi Redmi K30
A step down in terms of design
Xiaomi Mi during the launch of the Redmi 8 series smartphones teased the next version of the Redmi K series smartphone and that would be the successor of the much recent Redmi K20 smartphone from Xiaomi. The teaser showed the Redmi K30‘s display bounding a punch-hole selfie camera at the top-right corner which at first seems little bit disappointing to Xiaomi fans as it a step down from the beloved pop-up selfies camera system and for the adaption of the Samsung’s tech which was seen in the GALAXY S10+, the brand should have a convincing reason. In addition, the upcoming arrival was also teased to feature dual 5G support.
First teaser
Adding to the selfie cameras the teaser posted on Weibo by the GM of Xiaomi, Lu Weibing, showed not one but two selfie cameras placed side by side. Undoubtedly the Redmi K30 will be the first phone from Xiaomi to have punch-hole front-facing cameras. The implementation of the punch-holed display to accommodate front-facing cameras would be in the lieu of reducing the final cost of the phone and maybe to enhance the battery life of the phone by reducing the number of battery-powered moving elements.
Second Teaser
The second teaser of the Redmi K30 stated that the phone will come with dual 5G support that is SA (Standalone) and NSA (Non- Standalone). Out of the two, the NSA requires the support of existing LTE infrastructure for the purpose of communication among cell towers and servers which will boost the connectivity at lower costs as the telecoms will be exempted from establishing a completely new 5G network. The speculation of utilizing Qualcomm’s 725 chipset justifies the support of dual 5G support.
Specifications
The Redmi K30 will undoubtedly have high-end specifications which can be expected considering the history of its predecessor Redmi K20 and K20 pro smartphones. Moreover, it becomes essential for a brand to accompany the latest modem with high-end specs. So expecting something greater than snapdragon 730 or 855 would not be wrong along with a minimum of 6 GB of RAM.
Price
Xiaomi is known for maintaining the prices of its phones lower compared to renowned brands supposing the same or similar spec-sheet. The Redmi K30 will be a budget smartphone with premium specifications and its price is expected to be around Rs.25000/- to Rs.30000/- in India.
