Skoda Superb is about to get launched in near the end of 2019 with a facelift and Skoda will add a variant to its portfolio comprising a new drive train. The Facelift and the all-new PHEV drive train will be the USP of the Skoda Superb 2019. The facelift will bring many changes in terms of looks at exteriors and interiors. Excluding the hybrid variant, the engines on other variants will remain unchanged and hence will only get new looks.
Skoda Superb 2019 Facelift
Exterior
- Skoda Super’s facelift brings LED headlights with LED matrix technology and are seen to be slimmer than those seen in the previous versions.
- The front grille will now extend upto headlights at both the ends and hence will seem augmented.
- The new bumper with the new design will feature LED fog lamps.
- This facelift will replace the Skoda symbol at the back with the fairly spaced “SKODA” text.
- The chrome strip just below the Skoda text at the rear end will span the entire width piercing both the LED taillights laterally. The taillights will now include dynamic LED turn indicators which will add to its attractiveness.
- The wheels will now be of 19-inch instead of 18-inch
Interior
- The is no significant change in the layout of the cabin but the new things like chrome inserts can be seen and decorative trims can be seen over the dashboard.
- The upholstery with the facelift gets updated and brings colored stitching; Moreover, the fabric will be Alcantara headliner in either black or beige color.
Skoda Superb 2019: Drive train
The Skoda Superb will come in 3 petrol and 3 diesel engine variant along with an all-wheel-drive feature in the Top variant.
Upcoming global variants that do not match with the Indian variants:
- 5 L TSI Petrol Engine – 150 PS – 6 MT/7 DCT
- 0 L TSI Petrol Engine – 190 PS – DSG
- 0 L TSI Petrol Engine – 272 PS – DSG
- 6 L Diesel Engine – 120PS - DSG
- 0 L Diesel Engine – 150 PS – 6MT/ DSG
- 0 L Diesel Engine – 190 PS – DSG – AWD
The last but the most important out of all is the variant with PHEV. The PHEV option is the same as that seen on the Skoda iV. The PHEV combo includes a 1.4 L TSI motor accompanied by an electric motor running on a 13 kWh battery. The electric setup will offer a driving range of 55 km without the help of the conventional fossil-fuel powered motor. The mechanical motor produces 156 PS power and the electric motor produces 115 PS power, when used together the power-output will hike upto 218 PS. The power is transmitted to the wheels through 6-speed DSG automatic transmission system. The Range of upcoming PHEV Skoda Superb is claimed to be 850 km with the full fuel tank and fully charged battery.
Price and launch in India
The Facelifted Skoda Superb will go on sale at the end of 2019 and the PHEV variant will be available in 2020. These Superbs will be available in India soon after it’s international launch. The PHEV variant is expected to get launched in India in FEB or MARCH 2020. If Skoda replaces the engines with the above-mentioned engine variants, then the prices will get significantly hiked. The current variants of Skoda Superb start with the Ex-showroom price of Rs.26 lakh and range upto Rs.33.5 lakhs. The figures may change to Rs.28.5 lakhs to Rs.36.0 lakhs if the global engine variants are brought in India.
