How to update Aadhaar Card details online or Offline?

Today Aadhaar Card stands for the basic ID proof of an individual residing in India. The UIDAI database holds information of each and every citizen of India and is linked with a 12 or 13 digit number called Aadhaar number. The individuals who have registered using a valid mobile number can only update Aadhaar details online as it is authenticated by an OTP sent to the registered mobile number.

The details can be updated using the SSUP (Self Service Update Portal). Using USSP person can only update demographic details like Name, Address, DOB, Gender, Mobile and Email address.

Steps to do the same:

Log on to the Aadhaar card online self-service update portal through a secure web browser.
Log in using the Aadhaar number.
Submit Aadhaar car name change / surname change / correction request online.
Upload self-attested scanned documents that support the required change to be made on the Aadhaar card.
After submission, the requester will be provided an Aadhaar card update request number which can be later used to track the status of the request.

Visiting the nearby enrollment center

The enrollment center can update both demographics as well as biometric details. For this, the requester needs to provide original documents that support the requested changes.

Steps to do the same

Gather all the original documents required which supports the requested update along with the Aadhaar card and visit the nearest enrollment center.
On reaching the center the requester needs to pay the update fees of Rs.25 and then the update process will be carried out.
Provide the officer the original documents for scanning and after scanning the officer will return back the original documents.
Then the requester biometrics will be scanned and then will be given the request number.

The time required for updating

Usually, the details get updated within 90 days. First of all, request gets verified by the UIDAI representative ad then the rest of the procedure is carried out. A new Aadhaar card gets posted to the mentioned address if there is an update in fields like Name, Address, DOB and Gender. The updation of mobile number or Email will be notified by a notification sent to the given mobile number or email address.
