The most awaited successor of the legendary gaming console PlayStation 4 is said to get launched in the holiday season of 2020 and will be called as SONY PlayStation 5. The SONY PlayStation 5 will come with host of changes and improvements over the last PlayStation 4, but to what extent SONY PlayStation 5 will be better than PlayStation 4 cannot be known totally, However some of the specs revealed in the past and some recent announcements helps in getting the approximate idea of the capabilities of the upcoming SONY PlayStation 5. Several amendments both at hardware and software front have been announced by the SONY in their upcoming PlayStation 5 and much of the specifications are already known for pretty long time.
Hardware changes
In the PlayStation 5, Sony is going to replace its vintage (but still found in the latest PS4), rumble technology with a new haptic feedback technology which will offer a broader range of feedback.
The controllers will receive adaptive triggers for R2 / L2. The adaptive triggers will vary the resistance to the pressing and in that way, it will convey the feel of immense tension in the game. The triggers will bring the inside heat in the form of resistance in triggering the R2 / L2. So many times the gamer will have to exert extra force to get its way through the harsh situation in the game. This technology seems imitation of the patent from Microsoft, but there is no such final word from the Microsoft about the inculcation of the tech in their future Xbox consoles.
The PS5 will come with a disc drive but to play games, gamers will have to first install the game into the SSD unlike previous versions of PlayStations.
The most important upgrade in PS5 is the unimaginably ultra-fast internal SSD. Sony also stated that the PS5 will now allow breaking the installation like just installing the campaign part or installing the multiplayer section and similar privileges.
Software improvements
The Sony will tactfully justify its previous announcement of including Ray – tracing acceleration into GPU by the use of software tricks.
The PS5 will come with a completely new user interface which will also allow teaming up for multiplayer games before launching the game. The PS5 will offer detailed social features at the home screen.
There is still no confirmation on stuff like exact storage capacity and what kind of VR options will be available. The curiosity for the same can only be tackled by time if SONY refrains in answering.
Specifications and Price
The PS5 will be running on 8 core AMD 3rd gen Ryzen CPU (7nm Zen 2 processor) and to handle immense graphics load it will rely on Custom GPU based on AMD Radeon Navi hardware. For PS5, Sony has laid more emphasis on the 3D audio and the support for 8K gaming at 120 Hz with much less power consumption. There is no word out for the price tags but expect it to be more expensive than the current PS4. The expected price of PS5 in India is Rs.39,990/- and it is likely the actual price may be more than the expected.
