Microsoft Hololens 2 blend of Virtual Reality and Actual Reality

Microsoft has been working in the field which they call it ‘MIXED REALITY’ for several years. And their work has brought up the company with a new version of HOLOLENS that is HOLOLENS 2. The Hololens 2 is the improved version of Hololens in many ways and is said to be available to enterprise customers only for Rs 250700.

What is Mixed Reality?

In simple terms, Mixed Reality is the blend of Virtual Reality and Actual Reality. Microsoft’s Hololens is a device that can be worn like a VR headset and can show both real things and Virtual things together.

Specifications

Microsoft’s Hololens 2 is powered by Snapdragon 850 chipset along with a second-generation holographic processing unit. The display has the resolution equivalent to that of 2K panel. The device comes with spatial speakers, 5 microphones, and a battery with a USB type – C charging port.

The new TOF sensors are much faster and sense the hand gestures accurately and with more precision, which enabled Microsoft to add more lifelike gesture recognition into the device.

Improvements over First HOLOLENS

Augmented Show: Microsoft’s first Hololens was with a problem of a smaller field of view. The view looked like seeing virtual objects from the small rectangular box and because of a smaller fields of view, even a slight turn in head used to make virtual objects disappear.

Change in Method: The Hololens 2 display systems work differently. The display which projects images of virtual objects into the viewer’s eye-ball is called MEMS display (Microelectromechanical display). This display uses mirrors which oscillate 54000 times a second and the reflected light forms the image. And to form the image in front of eye waveguides are used. And the field of view has been increased by increasing angle.

Uses of Cameras for Adjustments: The Hololens 2 has got 2 cameras on the nose bridge which makes adjustments to the image, by sensing the depth of the pupil and align the image if seen necessary because no two eyeballs are even. These can also be used to log in.

Lighter and Symmetric: In the Hololens 2, unlike the first, the CPU is placed behind the head to keep the center of gravity in the middle.

Understands well: The Hololens 2 has now got improved accuracy towards gestures and understands gestures with details.

Solely for workers

The Hololens 2 will be only sold to enterprise customers if they are will to provide HOLOLENS 2 to their First-line – workers like workers at auto shops, factory floors, operating rooms, etc. This because the device is designed for workers who don’t know or unable to integrate electronic devices like tablets, laptops, or smartphones with their work. The HOLOLENS 2 would be available at the price of Rs 250700 and Rs 8954 /month/user.
