Samsung W20 5G – new form factor for a new foldable phone
Launch confirmed by a Chinese Telco in November 2019.
Apart from the latest GALAXY Fold, the great Korean Electronics giant, Samsung was said to be working on other foldable phones comprising foldable screens. The recent Weibo post supports the same and states that Samsung is about to launch another foldable phone with a foldable screen, the Samsung W20 5G in very short time. This time the phones form factors will be different from the previously released GALAXY Fold and as the name suggests the phone will support 5G networking too.
New Design - New form-factor
The history of SAMSUNG depicts that the Flip phones from SAMSUNG used to have model numbers starting with the letter “W” and the upcoming Samsung W20 5G will have will resemble those flip-phones. The silhouette of the Samsung W20 5G flaunts its design like that of a clamshell which when opened doubles the size. Unlike the GALAXY Fold, the W20 5G will have a hinge at the top instead of its lateral side. So, in short, the W20 5G will be a flip-phone with no keypad but a foldable screen panning from top to bottom when flipped. The probability of having a large display at the outer half is very less as W20 5G is expected to be a cheaper version of the existing GALAXY Fold.
The rumors which were prevailing during the launch of GALAXY fold on Samsung’s upcoming launch of the foldable smartphone which would fold down into square shape would have been of the same Samsung W20 5G.
Release of Samsung W20 5G
With Motorola holding its launch of Foldable Moto Razr which too will fold like a clamshell, Samsung is expected to launch W20 5G somewhere near the launch of Foldable Moto Razr which is about to get launched on November 13, 2019. It is still unconfirmed the final launch time of W20 5G, but it is likely to be in the month of November and consequently, it becomes tremendously hard to tell whether the sales of the W20 5G will start in November itself. Perhaps it is clear that in 2020 there will be at least two new foldable smartphones and maybe more if other brands intend to jump into this field.
Price of Samsung W20 5G
The upcoming Samsung W20 5G will be cheaper than the last GALAXY Fold and its price will be in the range of Rs.70000/- to Rs.90000/- in India.
