Origin Story
TCL Corporation is a pioneer in the internationalization of Chinese enterprise. Since its initial exploration in 1999, it has undergone three stages, including early exploration, transnational merger and acquisition, and steady growth.
TCL has passed several milestones, namely, in 2008, TCL Corporation signed an agreement with the 16th Asian Games Organizing Committee, becoming the Official Partner of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. In 2013, the name of the “Grauman’s Chinese Theatre”, a landmark in Hollywood Walk of Fame, was officially changed to “TCL Chinese Theatre”. A one of a kind collaboration in its 85 years of existence.
In 2015, with a brand value of US$ 10.77 billion, TCL ranked seventh among China’s Top 100 Brands, and was the first brand selected from the Chinese color TV industry over the past ten years. In the next few years, TCL Corporation will, by “joint forces and leading brand”, continue to consolidate and improve its market share in Europe and America. Meanwhile, it will make breakthroughs in the key emerging markets including India and Brazil, take root in the local market, and establish the competitiveness on the whole value chain.
TCL Innovation
TCL Corporation technological innovation system is composed of The Industrial Technology Research Institute, Technology Centre, as well as 23 R & D centres of subordinate industries. It is currently comprised of nearly 7,000 high-quality R & D personnel, with more than 7000 sets of development software, instruments and equipment at international advanced level. The Corporation boasts of 100,000 square meters of R & D office; nine labs accredited and certified by CNAL national product; six joint laboratories with internationally renowned companies, and one postdoctoral station.
TCL’s Industrial Technology Research Institute is directly under TCL headquarters, which are both the central R & D department, and incubator of TCL core technologies. Around the two strategic directions of “3C Integrated Digital Home Systems, Infrastructure Software Platform Development” and “new display technology”, the Institute focuses on the research of intelligent terminal technology, digital video and algorithm-based software technology platform, cloud framework and cloud computing, innovative products and services, relying on user experience research, to continue the exploration and development of new products and technologies.
